What an education this self-publishing journey is. Sigh…
As I was about to post an exciting new review of 17 Weddings to my Facebook page, I saw a message from a friend saying that she’d already received a paperback copy of the book. Normally, I would be thrilled to hear that — except that it’s not supposed to be launched until November 26th!
Lo and behold … I quickly discovered that I made one wrong click when setting up distribution, which enabled a not-quite-final version of my book to be sold and shipped. I was dismayed to discover that dozens of copies — complete with a few typos and clumsy sentences — have been released.
If you are one of the, um, fortunate people who have purchased this rare version of 17 Weddings, I apologize — and I would like to make it up to you. Please message me by November 25th if you are a member of the Accidental 17 Weddings Premature-Release Club, and I will be happy to send you a signed FINAL copy of the book when it is released on Monday, November 26th.
I’ve always approached my self-publishing journey as a learning experience, but it stings to make a mistake of this magnitude. At least the book was 99.9% ready. The story is complete, but my inner perfectionist is sulking.
On a happier note, check out the great review I received today from our local newspaper, The Coast Reporter!
Erroneously Yours,
Mark
